Glen-Ella Springs Inn, was such a lovely experience for Tom and I. Located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains between Tallulah Falls and the town of Clarksville, Georgia. The Inn is owned by Inn Keepers, Ed and Lucy Kivett, who are delightful, and beyond accommodating. The drive from our cabin in Floral City, Florida, was a little over 8 hours, due to taking back roads pulling our motorcycle trailer. Our trip was set up by my husband Tom, A.K.A Fred, to celebrate our love and a few recent blessings that deserved a special celebration. I love that he looks for activities that are unique and combine the things we both enjoy. Glen-Ella was no exception, and proved to be just what we hoped it would be. Let’s just say …Amazing!
Tom and I took tons of pictures, and it was difficult to decide which one’s to post:) Therefore, I will take you along today with lots of pictures, short details, and a few links for this Artsy Blog!
The renovation of this building took place in 1986 and is truly remarkable! The revitalization has been documented in the lobby, and is worth a gander, should you have the opportunity to visit.
We stayed in a queen room, and it was perfect for us! Suites and larger rooms are available, and look to be, completely stunning! Chocolate covered strawberries were ordered by “my favorite guy” and brought to our room by staff when they escorted us to our room. A strawberry and dark chocolate surprise, Let’s just say…Amazing!
Such a quaint space… with no television! What to do?
Beautifully decorated with all accommodations well done and comfortable.
Privacy is a big part of this experience. It is located in a place that truly takes you back in time. I kept thinking of one of my favorite movies, The Time Traveler’s Wife. The meadow and creek behind the Inn, were magical! Tom and I, couldn’t help but think about Glen and Ella, the couple who originally built this Inn.
The Garden was located beside the terrace where breakfast was served daily. Barn Swallows were in abundance, along with Hummingbirds, and happy Bumble Bees. You can see why so many couples visit and return year after year. Also, Glen-Ella is a popular wedding location for people from around the country.
My daughter Carson’s favorite, Hydrangeas!
As you enter the Inn, this old barn greets you!
Our view from the deck outside of our room, looked over the pool and meadow. We enjoyed sipping our coffee, listening to the birds singing every morning, while waiting for breakfast to be served at 8:30a.m..
The Inn Keepers leave fire starter on the bench outside of the lobby, so you can enjoy a fire, if you like.
View of the Inn from the meadow out back.
Dining at Glen Ella Springs Inn
Glen-Ella has an award winning restaurant which requires reservations. We were very impressed with the staff, food, and wine selection. My favorite wine was a muscadine wine made locally in Habersham County, GA. Every evening, we noticed people made the drive to enjoy a lovely dinner and then head home.
Breakfast on the terrace every morning was included in the nightly fee, and absolutely delicious each day! Listening to the birds singing, was something we missed when we came back home.
Around the Area
One whole day, we rolled the Harley out of the trailer, and spent the entire day enjoying the cooler weather riding around. There really is nothing like exploring the sites and smells, on a motorcycle. Live to Ride, Ride to Live. Tom and I, are so happy we trailered the bike and enjoyed the area on our bike.
The guy who makes my world go round (A.K.A Fred), at Fred’s famous peanuts! The peanut brittle at this place is delicious!!!
One day, we spent looking at local shops and ended up just over the North Carolina State Line at Bryant’s Antique Mall. This place was among my favorite antique malls… and I have been to a lot of antique malls!!! Very organized, great stuff, reasonable prices, and the owners were very nice.
I was smitten with this milk container chair using a tractor seat. What a great conversation piece for your home. In an earlier blog I created a table out of my milk container, click here to see my Milk Container DIY.
Clayton Georgia is the Coolest town ever! Awesome food and Brews at the Universal Joint! This small town had really unique shops, my favorite shop was Wander North Georgia Store. Don’t miss out on these two in Clayton, GA.
On our last night at Glen-Ella, we had a fire in the meadow, just us, cool air, and a few deer! Time well spent on relaxation, riding, sight seeing, and us! Let’s just say…Amazing!
