Boy I tell ya, “When it rains it pours”! We needed rain badly here in Florida a few months ago! Now, it seems like the rain is never ending. Every afternoon, without fail, rain and thunderstorms! As a mom who raised a few kids of my own, being inside every afternoon because it’s raining, can get a little crazy! How about some indoor s’mores and a good movie? This recipe is a real treat because it’s quick, cheap, and fun to eat! …Hey, that rhymes!
Large marshmallows, chocolate morsels, and graham crackers are the only ingredients needed. Yummy!
I used a medium size cast iron pan for this recipe. If you only have a few kiddos, a mini cast iron pan will work perfectly!
Semi-sweet morsels are my favorite chocolate, so I used those instead of milk chocolate.
Which do you prefer?
Pour morsels into the skillet and spread to cover the bottom.
Cut marshmallows in half before placing them in a circular pattern around the cast iron skillet.
Place the uncut side of the marshmallow facing up, that way, you get the browning similar to a marshmallow over a campfire. Living in the woods for almost 20 years, s’mores and campfires just go together. As a family, we have spent many years cooking up s’mores the old fashioned way with sticks from our trees. Here are a few pics from our property with our children.
The firemen in my life, are real good at lighting fires. I am fortunate to have three in the family!
Add graham crackers to a bowl for dipping…this is gonna be amazing!
Bowls are probably my favorite kitchen item, although cooking has never been high on my list of things to do …Giggling Loudly! Any how, bowls speak to me wherever I go! Honestly, when I moved to the cabin and downsized, my bowls were the first to make the trip. I do actually use the old bowls I collect and I love to have them out to look enjoy. I have been on the hunt for the perfect curio cabinet to display them in…I just love vintage bowls! This is one of two yellow ware, nesting bowls, and these are one of my favorites…gazing at her with LOVE! I found the set at a Renninger’s Fall Festival, and added them to my collection. I snagged them from an amazing lady, who was over the moon that I was so excited about them…that’s how picker people are! We find something and get a thrill out of watching people get excited about taking it home. If you have never been to Renninger’s it’s worth checking out!
On to indoor s’mores…
At only 9 minutes cook time, they are golden brown on top and ready to serve.
That’s a wrap! Have a fabulous weekend!
P.S. Don’t forget to shop local and support small business.
